What Makes Simply Amish Furniture So Special?

WARNING! - These points we’re about to discuss with you are things most furniture stores won’t even want to talk about … at all. (Now don’t say we didn’t warn you.)

Built with painstaking attention to detail by highly-skilled, authentic Amish craftsman, working on one of more than 50 family farms in America’s down-home heartland … from some of the most beautiful North American hardwoods, and finished with a seemingly endless variety of stains and hardware…

Our furniture is so exceptionally well-constructed it carries the exclusive Simply Amish Lifetime Guarantee. (See details here.)

And every design is still built according to tradition. Every step – the cutting, shaping, sanding, and staining – is done by hand. No imperfection gets by these experienced eyes ... and seasoned hands work hard to bring out the natural beauty in your choice of wood – like rich maple, solid oak, or incredibly strong hickory.

When you come in to our showroom for a look, spend some intimate time with Simply Amish. Run your hands over the satiny smooth finish of a sleigh bed, side chair or country pie safe … and you’ll instantly appreciate why every piece is hand-sanded and hand-rubbed. In fact, the typical reaction when you run your fingers across the surface of any Simply Amish piece is, “Wow…!”

These Amish artists take their work personally – very personally. In fact, if any piece of Simply Amish furniture ever needs repairing, we’ll send it right back to the same master craftsman who originally built it … and signed his name to it.

If You Can’t Handle A Wide Selection…

You’re In The Wrong Showroom!

For example, let’s look at chairs. First of all, you can choose from nearly 100 different styles. And if that’s not enough selection for you, multiply your choices by more than 75 different combinations of luxurious woods and stains.

And we’re not done yet – we also offer you hardware choices in wood, porcelain and 11 different metals … from Weathered Copper to Black Nickel to Burnished Brass.

Because of our commitment to true heirloom quality, one thing you won’t find is those trendy styles that are “here today and gone tomorrow” (’though many companies happily churn out that sort of thing anyhow … knowing their furniture isn’t likely to last any longer than the fad itself!)

With all these options – along with the option of working with a furniture consultant on a truly one-of-a-kind creation – you know your furniture can ultimately be as unique as you are. That’s why, at Simply Amish, we don't even start working on a piece until we receive your order. So when our craftsmen do begin, they know exactly who it’s for … and the whole job is tracked by your name. (You’ve never just a number to us!)

And since everything’s custom-made to order right here, you can buy as much or as little as you want – no need to buy an entire set. (Unlike those stores that bring it in by the container load, from overseas.) Anything you order down the road from now can still exactly match those pieces you purchase today.

Have A Peek Inside Our Drawers…

Unlike most furniture store offerings, Simply Amish drawer boxes are finished hardwood (either oak or maple) – nice and smooth, just like the rest of the furniture … with English dovetail joints front & back to last generations (you’ll need a hammer to knock ’em apart) … on self-lubricating, smooth-running, under-mount slides (hidden from view, and carrying the same lifetime guarantee).

The inside surfaces of all drawers and cabinets are finished, just like the outside … and the bottoms of our tables are sanded smooth to avoid snagging your clothes, and sealed to avoid warping and cracking from moisture absorption on the un-treated side.

Our cabinet backs are screwed on. (Look at the back of most furniture today, and you’ll see they’re held on with cheap staples … and, as often as not, it’s not even wood – it’s a form of cardboard!)

Many manufacturers cut corners by using cheap, inferior wood or even particleboard in those “out-of-the-ways” spots. But not us! We know you and your furniture deserve only the finest, longest-wearing (and yes, more expensive) slow-growth North American hardwoods … raised to the perfect age, then slowly kiln-dried. This is how we guarantee against splitting, and ensure you get many years of solid, reliable pleasure.

And when it’s time to ship your order … well, if you’ve ever moved furniture, you know there’s nothing quite like blanket-wrapping it for the utmost protection. And so do we. It’s just one more measure we take to ensure your new furniture arrives at your door in the same condition it leaves ours.

An Impressive Selection Of Woods

For Any Taste Or Purpose

Every one of the seven woods we offer has a look and feel – a personality – all its own. Here are a few points about each, to help you home in on the best choice for your new furniture:

Red oak is often chosen for furniture that gets lots of heavy daily use, due to its exceptional durability and strength. It has a coarse-textured grain, with natural color ranging from yellowish to a pale brown … and sometimes a slight touch of red.

White oak is another very strong hardwood with terrific wear-resistance. With a medium-coarse grain, its natural color runs from light tan to nearly white or light gray. Our quarter-sawn white oak, also known as “tiger oak”, gives your furniture an authentically traditional appeal … reminiscent of the Arts & Crafts style.

Soft maple – from either red or silver maple trees – has a beautiful straight grain that gives it a fine-textured look. Although still a hardwood, with about the same density as cherry, it’s not as wear-resistant as hard maple. Soft maple’s natural hues are light cream to pale brown … occasionally with darker streaks.

Hard maple – sometimes called rock maple – is the tough, somewhat heavy wood of the sugar or black maple tree. Its close, even texture yields a particularly smooth, durable surface. Hard maple’s natural tone, from nearly white to light tan and with an occasional reddish hue to it, is so beautiful you’ll often see it used with no stain whatsoever.

Cherry is an absolutely luxurious material – one of the choicest native hardwoods, equally valued for cabinets and furniture, in both formal and casual décors. Cherry comes naturally in a wide range of colors, from a light cream to a dark red-brown … often darkening through the years to a deep, rich glow.

Hickory is tight-grained, and definitely one of the hardest, heaviest and strongest of the North American woods. But it’s also quite flexible and resilient … making it ideal for use in “bentwood” furniture.

Walnut is one of the finest woods available for cabinets. It is very dense wood, with rich coloring – from light to deep chocolate brown. Though still highly desired, black walnut’s slow growth rate makes it one of the more expensive furniture woods.

Remember: “Cherry finish” (what you get from most manufacturers) is not the same as “solid cherry” (what you get from us). If it’s solid hardwood furniture you’re after – whether oak, maple, hickory, or any other – better ask for it specifically. (That table with the “cherry finish” is likely nothing more than cheap pine with a reddish stain!)

Now that you’ve learned what sets our furniture apart from the pack … come on in to our showroom and experience this difference firsthand.

A word of caution though: After spending time with Simply Amish … you just might find no other furniture measures up.
